Tom's outfit includes various lenses, flashes, and other photography staples. He mostly switches between his 50mm prime lens and a 24-85mm zoom for his portrait work.
Tom's interest in photography dates back to his childhood in southern CT and a few years living in London, England. His father, John, was an avid family photographer. He shot stills and slides all the time, as well as thousands of feet of 8mm home movies (a large box of which are in Tom's basement today).
Tom bought his first 35mm SLR camera - a Konica Auto Reflex TC - at age 15 and was soon shooting pictures of his high school's sports teams for the school and local newspapers. He had his own home b/w darkroom by age 17. He upgraded from film to digital in 2008, but he still loves the feel of old film cameras.
Videography work followed naturally, and Tom has a number of videos he's produced on YouTube. Still photography is his old new passion now!
Today, Tom shoots with a full frame DSLR, a "classic" Canon 5D Mark ii. While not the newest Canon camera - it came out in 2008 - the 5Dii is still considered by many advanced amateur and professional photographers as one the best portrait cameras around. Tom plans to stick with DSLRs despite many others now going mirrorless. The "vintage" feel of the 5D fits nicely with the aims of PWP!
